Magic Farm is an unconventional satire by director Amalia Ulman, starring Chloë Sevigny, that pokes fun at privileged Americans lost in the Argentine countryside. A group of foreigners working for a sensationalist media company sets out to exploit the eccentric singer Super Carlitos for a compelling story. However, after mistakenly arriving in the wrong town, their ambitious producer decides to improvise—fabricating a tale about a fake religious cult to pass off as a major investigation. Ulman exposes how Western media portrays Latin America through a lens of sensationalism and shallow misunderstanding. Magic Farm premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was also screened at Berlinale.
