Eastern Ukraine in the near future. An uninhabitable desert. Serhii, a
former soldier with PTSD, is struggling to adapt to his new reality: a life in
pieces, a land in ruins. When the smelter closes down and he loses his job, he
finds an unexpected way to cope by joining the volunteer Black Tulip mission which
exhumes war corpses. By working alongside Katya, he understands that a better
future is possible. Will he learn to live without war and accept himself as he
is? The film analyzes the possibility of human survival in an area devastated
by war – against the backdrop of a destroyed economy, broken infrastructure, and
irreversible environmental disaster. With the formerly prosperous land degraded
into a wasteland, the hero vainly seeks reasons to stay.
