After the Russian invasion on 24 February 2022, Yevhen and his friends volunteer to join a medical battalion. They rescue people and evacuate wounded from the front, often under enemy fire. We follow these young men while on duty and when on leave visiting families in western Ukraine. The calm countryside is in stark contrast to events on the battlefield. Here, among friends and family, we listen to life stories impacted by Ukraine’s fight for its emancipation and freedom from imperial Russia.
