Portrait of a young gangster called Rhino, who climbs the ranks of the local mob in a small Ukrainian industry town. The more power he seizes, the higher the costs, which at one point means the loss of his family and relocation to Germany. While creating a Scorsese-like mobster biopic, Sentsov recreates a captivating image of the volatile post-Soviet era dominated by mobsters. A story that could have easily taken place in corrupt 1990s Slovakia. The film premiered at the 2021 Venice Film Festival.
