In the 1950s, composer Jan Kapr became famous for his “construction songs”, and Stalin duly praised him as the only true Czechoslovak composer. In 1968, he returns this prize in protest against the Russian invasion, so the state erases him from public life. He records his ordinary life in the form of short fiction scenes on 8 mm film. The director combines these materials with an unconventional choral commentary performed by 17 opera singers who interpret scenes from Kapr's life. The film was awarded in Jihlava as the best Czech documentary of 2022.
