The exceptionally filmed literary adaptation of Dostoyevsky's short story was Stanislav Barabáš's last television film on the territory of Czechoslovakia, before his emigration to the West. The story of an unhappy marriage, doomed in advance. The main roles were played by Magda Vášáryová and Ctibor Filčík.
